Aphrodisiac Masala Chai Recipe and Guide

An Introduction to Aphrodisiacs and Our Aphrodisiac Masala Chai Recipe

Aphrodisiac herbs have been treasured across cultures for their ability to support intimacy, libido, and to promote vitality. By combining these revered botanicals with traditional chai spices, we’ve created a warming, indulgent chai that embodies sensuality and vitality—everything a Jīng Shén elixir should be.

Our aphrodisiac masala chai is perfect for savoring on chilly winter evenings or celebrating moments of connection, such as Valentine’s Day. Every sip offers a rich, spiced elixir that inspires connection, honoring the concept of Jīng Shén—a synergistic enlivening of life force and spirit.

What Is a Jīng-Shén Elixir?

A Jīng-Shén (精神) elixir is both an aphrodisiac—and far more than an aphrodisiac. Jīng-Shén—a concept borrowed from Classical Chinese Medicine—elixirs are comprehensive and multifaceted tonics designed to reignite desire and drive, soothe the mind and body, and awaken a deepened sensory experience and physical response.* By nourishing both Jīng (Essence) and Shén (Spirit), a Jīng-Shén elixir supports not just desire, but the foundational energy, emotional balance, and connection that sustain passion over time.*

Jīng, stored in the Kidneys, is the foundation of longevity—the deep reserve of energy that sustains the body—and the DNA blueprint of our individual potential, influencing physical endurance and reproductive health.* Shén, housed in the Heart, governs consciousness, emotional balance, and one’s capacity for joy and connection.* Together, they form the essence of vitality and presence, fostering renewed energy, deeper intimacy, and a foundational connection with a sense of self and the ability to connect with others—however that connection may manifest.*

Aphrodisiacs in the Context of Āyurveda

While Jīng-Shén elixirs work to replenish deep reserves of vital energy and spirit, Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद), the traditional system of medicine originating in India, approaches passion and well-being through the lens of balance—physically, mentally, and spiritually. This harmony is rooted in the equilibrium of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, as well as the cultivation of Ojas (ओजस्)—the vital essence in Āyurveda that governs vitality, resilience, and reproductive health, forming the foundation for physical stamina, emotional well-being, and passionate connection.*

In our aphrodisiac masala chai, herbs and spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger are used to warm the body, increase circulation, and awaken the senses—stoking the inner fire that fuels passion and vitality. Cloves and black pepper, celebrated in Āyurveda for their invigorating and bioenhancing properties, help improve blood flow and amplify the effects of other herbs, while fennel is used to support endocrine balance and cultivate Ojas—our vital essence, our Jīng. Together, these spices nourish, energize, and restore—bringing the body, mind, and spirit into harmony.

Both our aphrodisiac masala chai and Arrow of Eros Vital Fire Elixir Tincture are indulgent, deeply restorative, and crafted for connection.

Like the Arrow of Eros Vital Fire Elixir Tincture, our aphrodisiac masala chai is intentionally and purposefully formulated with phytotherapeutic plants cherished across diverse traditions of ethnobotanical practice. These plants nourish the body, calm the mind, and invigorate the spirit—enhancing vitality, supporting sexual health, and fostering an overall sense of well-being.* Just as these elixirs are designed to deepen connection between people, their formulations also bridge the traditions that inspire them.

Adding the Aphrodisiac Additions

These herbs should be added at the start of the decoction process, alongside the initial ingredients. Opt for whole or cut-and-sifted herbs to ensure they can be easily strained out. Keep in mind that their distinct flavors will subtly influence the overall profile of the chai, adding depth and complexity to the final tea.

Note: Adding Arrow of Eros Vital Fire Elixir Tincture to hot tea helps dissipate the alcohol flavor without compromising the efficacy of the herbs.*
